CAA provides busing to most areas within Calgary city limits. Routes and community stops (schedules) are adjusted yearly for where our riders are.
See below for our current schedules.
Calgary Arts Academy families are required to complete at least 10 volunteer hours per school year.
Volunteering at Calgary Arts Academy can take many forms. You can volunteer in the classroom, for field trips, helping to make props, backdrops or costumes for productions as well as volunteering for special events or special projects. There are several ways you can find out about volunteer opportunities.
Many requests for volunteers are sent out by school e-mail. Requests are also e-mailed by teachers and volunteer coordinators. Attending School Council meetings is also a good way of finding out what is happening in the school and upcoming volunteer opportunities. When volunteer opportunities are posted, details of the requirements will be listed.
POLICE BACKGROUND CHECKS
In order to volunteer, you must complete a police security check. You can request a volunteer verification letter from the main office at either campus to take to your local police station when applying (or apply online.) You must provide two pieces of government issued identification, one with a photo (for example, a driver’s license and Alberta Health Care card.)
CODE OF ETHICS
All volunteers must be familiar with school policies. Please refer to the "Parent & Student Handbook" above. It is important that all volunteers adhere to Calgary Arts Academy's Volunteer Code of Ethics:
Volunteer Code of Ethics:
• Volunteers must be discreet.
• Volunteers never discuss children, parents or staff outside of the school setting.
• Volunteers work in collaboration with school staff.
• Volunteers follow the requests of school staff.
• Volunteers refer discipline problems to school staff.
RECORDING VOLUNTEER HOURS
Volunteers are required to log their hours. Volunteer hours are tracked by your child’s name so please make sure you record this as well. Please continue to log your volunteer hours even after you have reached the 10-hour minimum requirement.

We are pleased to partner with Southland Transportation to provide city-wide transportation to our students.
You can apply for bus service by contacting our transportation department at firstname.lastname@example.org.

COMMUNICATING SNOW / COLD DAYS AND DELAYS IN SERVICE
On school days, the school is always open. We always move forward with the assumption that buses will be operating. Each morning, school administration reviews the posted Environment Canada weather (weather.gc.ca) and determines if buses will be cancelled (the threshold is -40c with wind chill.) If buses are cancelled, we notify local radio stations to have the information broadcasted. As well, an e-mail message will be sent by 7:45 a.m. to all families on the e-mail list. Families can also check mybusstop.ca for the status of their bus.
Regardless of whether or not the buses are operating, the school will remain open.
