Mrs. Morrison’s passion in education is early literacy and learning through the arts. She began her teaching career as a Kindergarten teacher and gradually taught many combinations of Grades 1 to 6. She completed her MEd degree in leadership and early literacy and worked as an Early Reading Intervention and Literacy Specialist. Her love of music and the arts was central to her work as an Assistant Principal in three Calgary Board of Education Schools. For more than 10 years, she continued her leadership as a Principal in another three CBE schools with a focus on personalizing learning, literacy, and learning through the arts. For many years she has been a proud member of the CAA Adult Choir.
Now she is thrilled to support students and staff as an administrator with Calgary Arts Academy as we inspire our youngest learners to go “above and beyond” this year.
Josie’s passion with art started on paper at the age of 2 and continues to intertwine in her everyday life. Her love for drawing, sculpture and photography has earned her a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Sculpture and Photography, as well as a Masters of Fine Art Graduate degree in Photography. Her extensive experience in photography is demonstrated in a portfolio of hundreds of portrait, weddings and events spanning 19 years of professional photography experience. Josie shares her love for photography, not only creatively but way of instruction at the University of Calgary as an instructor of Film and Digital photography since 2000. She is a mother of two incredible boys and loves to document their everyday journeys with film and digital media and can be found in her studio shooting, editing, writing, creating photographic mixed media pieces, dancing like no one is watching and sipping on coconut lattes.

Calgary Arts Academy opened their doors in 2003 where Leanne soon became the first full time artist hired in a school in Alberta. She continues to be dedicated to this innovative Kindergarten to Year 9 public charter school, both as an Arts Immersion Dance Artist and Choreographer. Leanne is looking forward to this school year!
