Ms. Hayley Jonason

Ms. Jonason recently graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Education degree, specializing in Secondary Science and a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Natural Sciences (Biology and Mathematics.)

Her love for teaching extends to her favourite art form of dance and has been a dance instructor since 2011. She works with both recreational and competitive students of all ages. Her passion for the performing arts and her strong belief in risk taking and learning from failure is what she strives to pass on to her students.

She is very excited to join the CAA team and begin her teaching career as Year 8/9 Facilitator.

Ms. Jane Conrad

Jane Conrad holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English (with a minor in Canadian hostory) from the University of Calgary and recently graduated from the Werklund School of Education where she specialized in Secondary English Language Arts.

Ms. Conrad is passionate about creativity and fostering an environment where every student feels safe and takes risks, discovers new things about themselves and explores the vast expanse of human experience.

When she isn’t teaching, Ms. Conrad acts and chef and chauffeur to her bustling family.

Ms. Hailey McLeod

Hailey McLeod is a dancer, actor, creator and teacher who has explored many ventures in the arts realm. She pursued dance training in contemporary and jazz styles while earning her Bachelor of Arts, Major in Dance from the University of Calgary in 2014.

She has taught students of all ages in Yellowknife (NT) Shawnigan Lake (BC) and Calgary. She has presented her own choreographic works in Yellowknife (Folk on the Rocks 2012) Calgary (Ignite! 2016) Edmonton (Nextfest 2016) and Helsinki, Finland (artArctica 2016), and has worked as a freelance choreographer for Gravity Dance Company and Trip the Light Youth Company.

Hailey also holds a Masters of Science in Dance Science from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (London, UK) and has been a sessional instructor at the University of Calgary.

She is thrilled to be part of the CAA team as of 2017, and is excited to go on artistic adventures with fellow staff and students.

Ms. Jacqueline Strilchuk

Jacqueline Strilchuk is excited to be at Calgary Arts Academy and is especially delighted to be part of the dynamic 8/9 team. She received her B.Ed from the U of C and her Theatre Arts diploma from MRU. Jacqueline is coming to us from StoryBook Theatre where she has been an integral part of the Theatre School Programming for the last five years and recently finished her position as Theatre School Development and Programming Coordinator.  When she isn’t teaching or performing, she spends time with her family and their numerous activities.

Mr. Dylan Thomas

Dylan Thomas has been teaching at Calgary Arts Academy since 2011.

Before completing his Bachelor of Education degree, he completed a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Drama at the University of Calgary as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy.

Mr. Thomas is very passionate about conceptual art as well as experimental theatre and performance art.  He really enjoys art forms that encourage “out of the box” thinking.

What Dylan loves about Calgary Arts Academy is the support given to students and staff, allowing them to grow as artists and intellectuals.  He loves his job.
