Ms. Megan Leung

Ms. Leung was a Year 6/7 student teacher in 2017/18 and is excited to now be a member of the Year 6/7 team. After obtaining her BSc and BEd at the University of Calgary, she spent a year teaching grade 5 at The Canadian International School of Guangzhou (Alberta Accredited). She is looking forward to the year ahead at CAA as she thrives in Art Immersion environments. Her favourite art form is visual arts such as water-colours, acrylics, coloured pencils and graphite.
Ms.Leung was born and raised in Calgary and enjoys travelling around the world. She is quite the foodie and loves experiencing unique food, locally and globally. Outside of school, Ms. Leung spends her time baking macarons (they even have their own instagram account!).

Ms. Hayley Jonason

Ms. Jonason recently graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Education degree, specializing in Secondary Science and a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Natural Sciences (Biology and Mathematics.)

Her love for teaching extends to her favourite art form of dance and has been a dance instructor since 2011. She works with both recreational and competitive students of all ages. Her passion for the performing arts and her strong belief in risk taking and learning from failure is what she strives to pass on to her students.

She is very excited to join the CAA team and begin her teaching career as Year 8/9 Facilitator.

Ms. Baker (Juleta Severson-Baker)

Juleta holds her AMRC Speech Arts and Drama diploma, an Honours degree in Drama from the University of Alberta and her Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary. She taught drama for the University of Alberta, both on satellite campuses in communities like Maskwacis and Slave Lake, and in Edmonton. Since 2001, Juleta has taught classes and private lessons in public speaking and debate, drama, and the performance of poetry at the Mount Royal University Conservatory in Calgary. Juleta has been an adjudicator of speech and drama festivals all across Alberta and BC. She is also a published poet. Her 2013 poetry collection, Incarnate, was short-listed for the national Gerald Lampert Memorial Prize as well as the City of Calgary W. O. Mitchell Book Prize. Her biggest sources of pride are her two teenage children.

Ms. Jacqueline Strilchuk

Jacqueline Strilchuk is excited to be at Calgary Arts Academy and is especially delighted to be part of the dynamic 8/9 team. She received her B.Ed from the U of C and her Theatre Arts diploma from MRU. Jacqueline is coming to us from StoryBook Theatre where she has been an integral part of the Theatre School Programming for the last five years and recently finished her position as Theatre School Development and Programming Coordinator. ¬†When she isn’t teaching or performing, she spends time with her family and their numerous activities.
