“Hello” Dance for Residential Schools

Accompanied by Adele’s “Hello,” CAA students Anikka and Sophie created this dance to demonstrate the impact of residential schools.

“The meaning behind the dance is that we’re connecting our curriculum to what someone in this experience of separation and loss from their families would’ve felt. ┬áIn the story, Sophie was the girl who had been assimilated into European culture and Anikka was her younger sibling who was trying to get her back and reconnect with her culture.” – Anikka and Sophie
